STEM Studio Rotation #4 focuses on Drawing, Printmaking & Painting through the element of Art : Space. STEM STUDIO Rotation #3 - Fashion I & II
Students are currently in the formative stages of demonstrating vocab, construction, illustration and sewing. We use Adobe Spark Page to push out all materials in a very organized fashion..ha get it!!....FASHION!!!!
After the holiday break, students will begin pattern construction.
Students finished up their riveting work this past week. In addition to the technical skill of riveting, we compared and contrasted fine art vs. folk art, learned about the quilt's of Gee's Bend of Alabama and demonstrated symmetrical or asymmetrical geometric design while using soda cans to mimic the scarps of fabric. Currently Mrs. Fitz is "piecing it all together" and it will be hanging up at STEM shortly.
On the instructional front...Adobe Spark has made it's way into our classroom instruction.
Students now get all of the information upfront and Mrs. Fitz is no longer the gatekeeper of info! Yippee!!

I always have the best intentions to write more while we are knee deep in creative thinking and problem solving but the time just flies with the students. The best way to see the awesomeness in action is to follow my twitter...@boxofsharpies Here you can see the magic happening on an almost daily basis. Please be sure to comment and retweet! :)
Below you will find the installation collaboration art, Art Appreciation students are finishing up on. As we know, working in a group is tough. It forces us to listen to to others, to be able to take constructive criticism, know when to lead and know when to support etc. While we always judge the physical product, we really do need to look at the process of our young artists. I truly believe that we are building, through art making, real world skill sets that will translate to future successes!
