singing in the rain
STEM Musical - Singin' in the Rain: Tomorrow, after school [on Monday, Sept. 18], we will be pulling together to introduce our musical for the year, which will be Singing in the Rain. Shannon Messplay, who has directed our musicals in the past, will be hosting this learning session, to provide interested families and students with important information about upcoming try-outs, as well as dates, times and other pertinent info. on the musical. The meeting has been on our calendar for a few weeks, but we also wanted to send out a friendly reminder, just to keep our parents in the loop, as we know everyone is busy and sometimes may not have time to check the calendar. Shannon will kick off the meeting at 3:00pm, in Room #111 (the open space across from our Library) and it should run about an hour. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents. If any families and students are unable to attend the meeting tomorrow, at 3:00pm, please feel free to connect with Shannon at: email@example.com and she will gladly help out in any way possible, to field any questions that you may have.

Building Hours for 2017-18
Sending out a quick reminder to parents & guardians of our building hours. With our weather ever-changing in Wisconsin, we are a bit flexible during the winter months, when we have freezing and sub-zero temperatures, but for the most part, the building hours are pretty static, similar to last year.
Please let us know if you have any questions and we'd be happy to help out.

STEAM CHOICES for trimester 1
Happy Labor Day STEM - Saratoga Parents: We hope that everyone had a wonderful day off and enjoyed the great weather! We would like to THANK all of our amazing volunteers from Day 1, last week Friday. What an awesome day we had... quite possibly the best opening to any year, since we opened our doors, 8 years ago! Pictures will be hitting our website this week, showcasing the great events and activities from last week and all of the students having a blast and building a community that will last well beyond their years at STEM. Here is a bit of information for the upcoming weeks, for our families:
STEM Learning Sessions for Parents
On the eve of Wednesday, September 13 (next week Weds.), STEM - Saratoga staff will be hosting our initial STEM Learning Sessions, to help our parents best understand everything at STEM- from the mission & vision, to the program model, to the Learner Curriculums and our reporting and feedback tools. This is a great way to stay involved and in the know, when it comes to your student's journey at STEM - Saratoga. Please join us from 6:00 - 7:30pm, at our Saratoga Campus, to learn about everything STEM!
STEM Cross-Country Team
Interested Cross Country Families: As advertised on our calendar and our Cross-Country Booth last week at our STEM ~ Summer BBQ and Open House, our 2017 Cross Country season begins tomorrow, Tuesday, September 5th. Students should be prepared to change into appropriate athletic clothes for running outside. Practice begins at 3:00pm and ends at 4:00pm. Upon the conclusion of practice at 4:00pm, a 30-minute parent meeting will be held in the gym. A fee of $25.00 will be required to be paid, to help cover the cost of our students' tournaments and competitions, as well as transportation, to and from each event. Checks may be made directly payable to WSA and given to Ms. Olson in the office. The following form linked here needs to be completed and if your student is new to the team, the team uniform shirt needs to be purchased using this link. More information can be found on our website linked here.
New York 2018 Trip
Mrs. Akre and Mr. Hoffmann will again be coordinating a class trip this year, with our destination being New York! We held a preliminary meeting last spring for all interested parents, who selected New York as our destination for this year. We are now holding our fall information and sign-up meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 13th @ 5:30 here at Saratoga ( 30 mins. before our curriculum night). We will be walking interested families through itineraries, fundraising, costs, dates, expectations, and answering any questions that you may have. We need 45-50 students to get the lowest price available, so we want to meet with 7th and 8th grade parents to ensure enough students sign up. If you cannot make the meeting and are interested, please feel free to contact either director at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com for details. We look forward to meeting with you and helping make this the experience of a lifetime for our STEM students.
STEaM Trimester 1 Launch
Students will be hearing about their STEaM CapStone Project options this Tuesday morning. Since each project has different requirements, we ask that parents and guardians help reflect with their student(s) prior to them making their selection, on Wednesday morning. This is a pretty big choice, with some amazing opportunities and we will be sharing these out on Tuesday. We look forward to Friday as being the start of STEaM projects for the trimester.
That should just about do it for now and please always remember to check out our website for updates, as well as our Twitter feed, to see a day-in-the-life of a STEM student.
Our goal, as always, is to make learning engaging and exciting and we are off to a great start! A BIG Thank-You to everyone for all of your support in making this possible... each and every day.
Have a super week!
